Our Spanish brothers and sisters...
La inmensa mayoría de las personas opinan, acertadamente, que hay cosas que cuando se piensan o hacen, coinciden con otras. A ésto le llaman casualidad. Para mí, personalmente, las circunstancias que han marcado mi vida, que me han llevado a ser, a actuar y vivir, no son casualidades, sino la poderosa mano de Dios actuando.
Me llamo Ma. Angeles y pertenezco a la iglesia de Cristo ubicada en Pinoso desde hace poco más de 3 años. Actualmente somos 12 miembros compuesto de españoles y latinos. Pero a comienzo sólo éramos 4. La gracia de nuestro Dios estuvo con nosotros desde incluso antes de que nos conocíamos y fuéramos llamados a congregarnos.Yo no resido en Pinoso, sino en La Algueña, pero a Dios no le importó el usarme y ser el medio por el cual El traería bendición a los que ahora estamos congregados.
Por aquel tiempo, unos hermanos de una iglesia en Elche venían a mi casa a ministrar la Palabra, juntamente con varias de mis amigos a las que invitaba. Pero pronto dejaron de venir por falta de tiempo. Entonces me propuse, con la ayuda de Dios, buscar una iglesia que se quisiera hacer cargo de mi situación, pues yo no podia desplazarme para congregarme al no disponer de medios. Conseguí, a traves de una hermana, llevar el caso al conocimiento de un pastor en Petrer y él quedó en hablar conmigo.
Mientras la hermana inglesa que conocí me llevó a la iglesia a la que asistia en Pinoso. Me alegró grandemente ver que Dios habia levantado una iglesia allí, aunque ésta fuera de hermanos ingleses y no de españoles. Pero Dios iba a ir más allá. Conmigo vino una amiga y hermana que vivia en Pinoso. Ambas conocimos en la iglesia a alguien que como mejor pudo nos habló de un pastor que podría venir a ministrarnos, si hubiera un pequeño grupo de cristianos españoles. Decidimos entonces, que fuera ésta hermana de Pinoso la que se encargara de llamarlo, pues ella, juntamente con dos hermanas más de ahí, se beneficiarian. Pero yo, ¿cómo podría ir sin tener medio para desplazarme?
Esa misma semana pude contactar con el pastor de Petrel y contarle la situación. No me aseguró nada pues me dijó que igualmente le habian pedido encargarse de otro grupo de hermanos. Pero cual no fue mi sorpresa cuando descubrí que el pastor de Petrel y el que nos comentó la hermana inglesa eran la misma persona. ¿Casualidad? No, providencia y dirección de Dios. A los pocos días conoocimos a éste pastor y comenzamos a reunirnos en la iglesia de Pinoso, con el permiso de los hermanos ingleses. Aún para mí, que me resultaba difícil ir por no tener coche, el señor puso al pastor mismo para recogerme y llevarme de vuelta. Lo que parecia algo inimaginable se hizo realidad por la gracia de Dios. Éste pastor estuvo poco tiempo con nosotros, pues marchó a su pais, Noruega, pero no quisó dejarnos solas a las 4 hermanas que componiamos el grupo. Nos proveyó de otra iglesia que viniese a ministrarnos. Ésta fue la actual iglesia de Cieza que pastorea el hermano Juan Carlos. Con ellos estamos siendo grandamente bendecidos pues se han entregado totalmente a nosotros y a la obra en Pinoso.
Creemos que Dios tiene planes trazados para este pueblo en los cuales estamos incluidos los que formamos la iglesia de Pinoso, tanto españoles como ingleses. Nos sentimos motivados a trabajar sabiendo que nada en el Señor es en vano ¿acaso hay algo más grande que trabajar para el Señor?
Actualmente nos reunimos los lunes a las 6 de la tarde y los sábados cuando podemos. Los lunes nos ministra nuestro pastor en un culto de oración y estudio de la Palabra. Los sábados a las 6 y media nos reunimos para tener un culto más informal, con alabanzas, coloquial, compartiendo un tema de actualidad a la luz de la Palabra y opinando a la vez, mientras tomamos café.
Aunque nos gustaría poder ser más los españoles que Dios traiga, nos alegramos sabiendo que aunque despacio, el Señor añade a su iglesia los que han de ser salvos. El crecimiento lo da Él. Nosotros sólo hemos de sembrar. Agradezco a mi Dios por todas esas "casualidades" que ha puesto en mi camino, y que han marcado lo que ahora soy en Él. Agradezco su provisión en medio de mi escasez y de mis impedimentos. Agradezco igualmente que me haya enseñado a depender sólo en Él. Pido oración para que el Señor multiplique su iglesia en Pinoso y abarquemos todo el pueblo. Que Dios bendiga a los hermanos ingleses, bendiga su obra, y a cada persona que forma parte de ella.

The vast majority of people believe, correctly, that the are things which, when they are thought or done, coincide with others.They call this "coincidence". For me, personally, the circumstances which have marked my life, which have brought me to be, to act and to live, are not coincidences but the work of the powerful hand of God.
My name is Ma. Angeles and I have belonged to the church of Christ situated in Pinoso for a little over 3 years. At the moment there are 12 members made up of Spanish and Latin Americans, but at the beginning there were 4 of us. The grace of our God was with us even before we knew each other and were called to meet together. I do not live in Pinoso but in La Algueña, but this has not stopped God from using me and being the means by which He would bring blessing to those of us who now meet.
It all started when by "chance". I met an Evangelical English woman in my town. Back then some brothers and sisters from a church in Elche used to come to my house to minister the word, along with some of my friends whom I had invited. But soon they stopped coming because of`lack of time. So I decided, with the help of God, to look for a church which would take charge of my situation because I did not have the means to travel in order to meet with other believers. I managed, via another sister to bring this to the attention of a pastor in Petrel and he arranged to talk to me.
Meanwhile the English sister whom I had met brought me to the church which she attended in Pinoso. I was so happy to see that God had raised up a church there, although it was of English brothers and sisters and not Spanish. But God was not going to stop at that. With me came a friend and sister who lived in Pinoso. We both knew someone in the church who, as best as he could, spoke to us about a pastor who could come and minister to us if there was a little group of Spaniards. So we decided that this sister from Pinoso should call him as she, and another two sisters from there, would also benefit. But what about me? How could I get there with no means to travel?
That same week I was able to contact the pastor from PetreL and tell him about my situation. He didn't promise me anything but he did say that he had been asked to pastor another group of brothers and sisters. How surprised was I when I discovered that the pastor from Petrel and the one about whom the English sister had been talking were one and the same person? Coincidence? No, the foresight and direction of God. A few days later we met this pastor and we began to meet in the church in Pinoso with the permission of the English brothers and sisters. Even for me who had a problem with transport, the Lord arranged for the pastor himself to pick me up and take me home again. Something which seemed unimagineable became reality by the grace of God. This pastor was not with us for long, because he returned to his home country, Norway, but he didn't want to leave our four sisters who made up the group on our own. He asked another church to minister to us. This was the church in Cieza which is pastored by brother Juan Carlos. We are being richly blessed by them, they have given themselves totally to us and to the work in Pinoso.
We belive that God has detailed plans for this town in which we who form the Pinoso church, both Spanish and English, are included. We feel motivated to work knowing that nothing done for the Lord is in vain and is there anything greater than working for Him?
At the moment we meet on Mondays at 6pm and on Saturdays when we can. On Mondays our pastor ministers to us and we meet for prayer and to study the Word of God. On Saturdays at 6.30pm we have a less formal meeting with praise, conversation; looking at a particular theme in the light of the Word and giving our opinion whilst having coffee.
Although we would like to see God bring us more Spanish, we are happy knowing that albeit slowly, the Lord will add to His church those who are being saved. He gives the growth. We only have to sow the seed. I am grateful to my God for all these "coincidences" that He has put along my path and which have made me what I now am in Him. I am grateful for His provision within my scarcity and failings. I am also grateful that He has taught me to rely soley upon Him. I ask for prayer that the Lord will multiply His church in Pinoso and we will embrace the whole town. May God bless the English brothers and sisters, bless His work and each person who is part of it.
